Community Support North East

Community Groups North East

We know that loneliness and lack of face-to-face contact brought on by the Pandemic is causing significant mental health issues for people of all ages.  We miss our groups and drop-ins, the projects that were just getting started when we were locked down for the first time.

We want to reassure you that we are here for you – and we are working around the clock to find ways of providing meaningful support in a way that is safe and Covid secure.

Here are just some of the ways that Dreamshine will be providing Community Support for people living in North East England in 2021.

Telephone Befriending

Our staff and volunteers are available 7 x days per week, 365 days per year for anyone in need of regular Telephone Befriending Support.

Call 0300 3658554 between 08:00 am and 14:00 – or contact us.

Community Hub

We will be opening a Community Hub in Spring 2021.

Our hub will initially provide Covid-19 secure, face to face support to our registered service users.

Support will initially be on an appointment basis only – and we will comply with all current regulations. Eventually, as we start to move back through the Tiered system, we will increase the support that we offer.

We would eventually like to offer a full range of groups and exciting projects that local people can participate in and enjoy. For example:-

Bring Along Baby Sanctuary (B.A.B.S)

Having a baby is a magical and life-changing experience full of wonderful rewards. It’s incredible how quickly your little one becomes the centre of your universe and any ‘me-time’ you once had fades into a distant memory.

At B.A.B.S we’ve created a positive space for you to connect with others and engage in activities that are geared towards you and not your little bundle of joy. Don’t worry about your little one though – babies are very welcome, and the environment is designed to cater to both of your needs.

You’ll be amazed at how taking a couple of hours out of your busy week to do something for yourself can help re-charge your batteries a little and give you and your baby a boost. B.A.B.S is a fun, friendly and easy-going group where you can engage in creative activities if you want to, have a giggle, and share experiences over a cuppa. It’s a free community group – there is no charge either for attendance or taking part in activities. Food and drinks can be purchased if desired with bottomless hot drinks available between 09:00-11:00.

Well-beeing Cafe

Our Well-Beeing Café will be situated on the same site as our Community Hub.

We will provide regular updates as soon as we are able.

However, we hope that our café will not only provide healthy, balanced meals to improve well-being but that it will also provide opportunities for learning and growth.
